If you are looking for hiking trails in Prescott, Arizona, Highlands Center for Natural History offers more than just a place to walk. It gives you a place to connect with nature and find where you belong. The mission is to help children and adults discover the wonders of nature and become wise caretakers of the land, a land that we all care so much about here in the highlands of Arizona. Whether you come out for a short walk or a longer outing toward Lynx Lake, Highlands Center is open every day of the week, in every season.

A Place to Plug In Where Everyone Belongs

There is a place here for you. Highlands Center invites you to find where you belong and plug in from there, whether that is the forest play area or any number of other locations across the beautiful campus.

If you want to get more involved, here is what is coming up this spring at Highlands Center. On May 27, Arizona Weather Wonders with KNAU meteorologist Lee Born walks you through Arizona’s five distinct seasons and what makes each one different. Hike Through Prescott National Forest at Your Own Pace

You can park at Highlands Center, walk your way up to the Lynx Lake store, and make a full outing of it. Or you can stay on the Highlands Center trails and explore the forest at whatever pace suits you.

You can hike for 20 minutes, an hour, two hours, or as long as you want to be out there. Come with your dog. Come with your friends. Whatever the season, the trails are here for you every day of the week.

Supported by Community Members Like You

Highlands Center for Natural History is a nonprofit nature center on Prescott National Forest, and it runs almost entirely on the support of community members like you. That support is what keeps the trails open, the campus welcoming, and the programs running throughout the year.

When you visit, you are connecting with something your community helps sustain. The center exists to give you a meaningful way to experience the natural world and care for the land around you, and it is here for you every single day.
