Visitor Experience Coordinator
The Visitor Experience Coordinator creates a welcoming, engaging, and mission-centered experience for visitors, members, volunteers, and community partners. Based in the Nature Store, the public-facing hub of the Highlands Center for Natural History, this position serves as a primary connection point between the community and the organization.
This role coordinates all volunteer engagement, supports the member experience, maintains clear and consistent public-facing information, assists with marketing and communications efforts, and supports events, programs, and facility rentals. This position requires occasional evening and weekend work.


Staff Naturalist
The Staff Naturalist is a field-based educator responsible for facilitation of school programs and camps, adult education and some limited support of early childhood programs and outreach. This role delivers high-quality, place-based learning experiences across multiple audiences and works closely with the Education Manager and education team to ensure consistent program delivery. The Staff Naturalist collaborates across departments to support program alignment, and coordinates with the Deputy Director on adult education and outreach initiatives. While primarily focused on instruction, this role contributes to ongoing program refinement through field-based feedback and implementation experience. This is a site-based role and requires occasional evening and weekend work
Teen Internship Program
Love being outside and curious about working with kids? Our Teen Internship is a hands-on summer experience for teens ages 14–17 who want to learn, lead, and grow in nature. Interns support hikes and activities, work as part of a collaborative camp team, and build confidence in communication, teamwork, and leadership while forming a deeper connection to the natural world.
