At the Highlands Center

In our classroom without walls you will discover Ponderosa pine covered mountains, deeply shaded riparian habitats, chaparral and woodland, remarkable geologic formations, and amazing vistas, in addition to all manner of forest inhabitants. With educational programming, hiking trails, and a botanic garden, our Prescott nature center has activities for all ages. Most of the grounds around the buildings are accessible by wheelchair. The ADA compliant Discovery Gardens loop has a paved surface and our three-quarter mile Stretch Pebble Loop Nature Trail (#443) has a gravel surface.

Our Lynx Creek campus site on South Walker Road features three miles of hiking trails in the Prescott National Forest.

Discovery Gardens

Our James Family Discovery Garden is available so that you can come celebrate the beauty and extraordinary biological diversity of the Central Highlands in our accessible native gardens.

Volunteer

Help children and adults discover the wonders of nature and become wise caretakers of the land. If you have a few hours a month or a few days a week to volunteer, we have a variety of volunteer opportunities for you to choose from.

Nature Store

Our Benson Family Nature Store gift shop has a wonderful assortment of unique nature-related books, guides, apparel, and gifts for all ages.

Adult Programs

We offer educational programs for adult learners throughout the year on and offsite regarding the natural history of the Central Highlands of Arizona.

Youth Programs

We offer programs and events children and families throughout the year out on our trails and in our Discovery Gardens.
