Sunflower Family Workshop
8:00am – 1:00pm
Sunflowers, daisies, and dandelions— all flowers we know and enjoy! But what characteristics make them a part of the Asteraceae family? Join the Prescott Chapter of the Arizona Native Plant Society to learn about the family Asteraceae. In this workshop, we’ll use hand lenses and microscopes to discover key characteristics of the family and how to identify species. This workshop is free and open to the public. No prior botany experience is needed!
Itinerary:
Join the guided walk from 8:00am to 10:00am, where you’ll take a walk on wooded trails to learn about the native plants of the Highlands Center and the Central Highlands ecoregion. Meet in front of the main building of the Highlands Center for Natural History by the bronze sculpture.
After a short break we will be in the Kieckhefer Classroom at 10:30am. We’ll be inside learning and examining plants until 1:00pm. Bring water and snacks.
