with Mark Riegner
Join Prescott College Environmental Studies Professor Mark Riegner for this participatory workshop focusing on applying an understanding of evolutionary change to interpreting natural history. We will learn about Charles Darwin’s discoveries, the marriage of genetics with evolutionary principles, how changes in the rate and timing of an organism’s development can lead to rapid and dramatic modifications in plants and animals, and how the natural environment influences the form of living things, so-called epigenetics. A PowerPoint presentation will be integrated with an examination of animal skulls, some basic sketching, and observations made outdoors
