Shakespeare in the Pines:
The Merry Wives of Winslow
The Highlands Center for Natural History and Laark Productions, in partnership with El Gato Azul, present the 7th Annual Shakespeare in the Pines: The Merry Wives of Winslow. Experience Shakespeare at the Highlands Center’s beautiful outdoor amphitheater. Proceeds support nature-based educational programs for children.
Shakespeare in the Pines, The Merry Wives of Winslow will be held Friday, August 28th and Saturday, August 29th, with a special matinee performance on Sunday, August 30th. FACE MASKS REQUIRED.
The Merry Wives of Winslow has loaded up the wagons and moved to August!
We are making several adaptations to our traditional program to allow for a safer, more intimate experience. The attendance at each performance will be limited to assist with social distancing. The incredible meal from El Gato Azul will be turned from a buffet into a delicious boxed picnic. Guests will be invited to dine on small tables scattered throughout the entirety of the Jame Family Discovery Gardens, to provide for an intimate dining experience within the beauty of nature.
The Merry Wives of Windsor will still take place in the Kiwanis Amphitheater to a smaller audience than in the past. As the setting of the play is the Arizona West, we will also provide each guest with a colorful bandana, should they choose to use it, and be in costume with the performers.
Highlands Center for Natural History members check your Visions Newsletter for your code for early access. Non-Member tickets go on sale starting May 7th. Members $50, Non-Members $60
The boisterous Sir John Falstaff comes to the small town of Windsor bringing a taste for beef, beer and other men’s wives. Clever Mistress Ford and wily Mistress Page instantly see through his amorous ploys and use them to set him up and take him for a ride.
Disguises, duels and laughter win the day as Laark Productions brings the world of Falstaff, his friends and foes to the world of the Arizona Territory in 1888. The Merry Wives of Winslow: a riotous whistle-stop on the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe.
William Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor (Winslow) will be presented at the 7th annual Highlands Center for Natural History fundraiser Shakespeare in the Pines.
