The Merry Wives of Winslow has been Cancelled
The Highlands Center for Natural History sincerely regrets the cancelation of the upcoming Shakespeare in Pines performances scheduled for August 28, 29, and 30, due to concerns related to COVID -19. We had great hopes that the virus would have receded enough to safely conduct the performances with modifications we put in place. This week’s decision by Arizona Governor Doug Ducey to extend the moratorium on issuing special event permits and discouraging gatherings of over 50 participants, dashed our hopes. We support the Governor’s actions to halt the spread of the virus in Arizona and, for the health and wellbeing of our local community, we feel obligated to cancel the August performances.
Tickets holders will be offered full refunds or can convert the purchase price into tax deductible donation to support the Highlands Center.
We express our gratitude to the directors and cast of Laark productions who, for months, have been preparing and rehearsing for this event and to the planning committee for their efforts.
We will look forward to the return of Shakespeare in the Pines in June of 2021!
The boisterous Sir John Falstaff comes to the small town of Windsor bringing a taste for beef, beer and other men’s wives. Clever Mistress Ford and wily Mistress Page instantly see through his amorous ploys and use them to set him up and take him for a ride.
Disguises, duels and laughter win the day as Laark Productions brings the world of Falstaff, his friends and foes to the world of the Arizona Territory in 1888. The Merry Wives of Winslow: a riotous whistle-stop on the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe.
William Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor (Winslow) will be presented at the 7th annual Highlands Center for Natural History fundraiser Shakespeare in the Pines.
