Working with Local Schools

The Highlands Center works with local public, private, and charter schools through our year-round school programs. Highlands Center School Programs are a special point of pride, and are the longest running and most requested.  The Highlands Center’s field trips and  Schoolyard Habitat Program are wonderful ways to help students have positive outdoor learning experiences.

Field Trip Program

Field trips are offered to K-5 classes from 9:30 -12:30, and are facilitated by HCNH staff and education volunteers. Every field trip to the Highlands Center includes exploration, science education, hiking, and reflection.

Schoolyard Habitat Program

The Schoolyard Habitat Program is a partnership between the Highlands Center and local schools. Each year the Highlands Center works with a new school to implement the program by developing an outdoor native habitat and curricula for use in the classroom.
