Kid and Family Programs

The Highlands Center offers a variety of programs for kids and families to help them discover the wonders of nature and become wise caretakers of the land.

  • Nature Camps are a meaningful way for children of all ages to spend time learning about nature by exploring the Prescott National Forest and are offered in the Spring, Summer, and Fall.
  • The Knee High Naturalist Program offers an opportunity for 3-5 year olds and their guardians to explore nature through interactive educational activities.
  • Family Fun Events are seasonal community events that often include a craft, scavenger hunts, and other interactive activities.

Nature Camps

Discovering the mysteries of the animals, plants, and land of the highlands often inspires a new love and understanding of nature among campers.

Family Fun Festivals

Each season offers something special to celebrate, and there is no better place to celebrate than here at the Highlands Center!

Nature Camp Internships

Nature Camp Interns start the season as volunteers working with family programming, lesson planning, and material development. Through training and real-life experiences interns gain skills with peers and youth through explorations and investigations of our 80 acre site.

Knee High Program

Spend a morning exploring the Prescott National Forest with your 3-5 yr old.  Open their eyes to the ‘little big world’ of the Central Highlands.
