The Highlands Center for Natural History presents the 2nd Annual Highlands Nature Festival. This exciting Labor Day fest will run September 2-4 and feature three days of inspiration, discovery and celebration. Throughout the festival, local and regional naturalists and partner organizations including The Central Arizona Land Trust, Central Arizona Geology Club, Ecosa Institute for Ecological Design, Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary, Natural History Institute of Prescott College, Prescott Audubon Society, Prescott Chapter of the Arizona Native Plant Society, Prescott Creeks, and Yavapai Group Sierra Club will lead interactive hands-on field trips and workshops, exploring many areas of our natural surroundings.
The Highlands Nature Festival opens Friday evening, September 2nd, with A Conversation with Cody Lundin, internationally known outdoor survival instructor, at the Yavapai College Susan B Hall Community Room. Saturday and Sunday morning’s interactive Field Trips, led by the Festivals partner organizations, will explore many areas of our natural surroundings, including Central Highlands geology, our plant and mammal neighbors, our many species of birds, butterflies and other insects, our precious watersheds and riparian areas, and more! On Saturday afternoon, from 1-5pm, at the Highlands Center, the Highlands Nature Festival Open House, hosted by the presenting organizations and sponsors, will allow all festival participants an opportunity to discover, learn and celebrate the Highlands Nature Festival.
