Informative and Playful
“It would be an understatement to say that nature camp was a life transforming experience.” – Parent of a 7 year-old camper
PRESCOTT, AZ –April 25, 2016 The Highlands Center’s F.U.N. (Friends Understanding Nature) day camps are a meaningful way for children of all ages to spend a week of their summer learning about nature in an informative and playful setting. These creative camps all take place at the Highlands Center’s 80-acre campus in the Prescott National Forest. Discovering the mysteries of the animals, plants, and the land of the Highlands often inspires a new love and understanding of nature among campers.
Numerous research studies have shown that children who play in the outdoors have higher levels of cognitive development, creativity, self-confidence, and cooperative play. From Pre-K (Summer Sprouts) to 8th graders (Jr. Naturalists) summer F.U.N. camps offer a wide variety of topics and adventures for campers to experience and share, including campouts at Lynx Lake for the older groups. For a complete description of each camp, click here.
What to expect at the Highlands Center’s F.U.N. Camps:
• Innovative and engaging learning activities in the woods
• Investigation of insects, birds, mammals and plants
• Discoveries through fascinating stories from the land
• Observing the connections of the natural world individually and with peers
• Recording memories through writing and drawing
