Celebrate Americana Roots Music and the birth of the new Prescott Public Radio (formerly KJZA) with The Folk Sessions 4th annual Americana MusicFest “under the stars” in the beautiful setting of the Highlands Center on Saturday, June 18. Some of Arizona’s finest folk artists will perform music that this country was built upon. This year’s fest features popular Valley bluesman, Eric Ramsey, Jason Donne and the Open Graves, and Prescott’s Doc Garvey’s Remedy featuring AZ Hall of Famer, Paul Spradlin. Sponsored by Prescott Public Radio, all Tickets for this great show are $10.00.
Eric Ramsey has been active in the Valley music scene for many years. He is a founding member of the seminal Alt-Folk-Swamp-Country-Rock-Southern-Blues-Boogie Band Spiny Norman. Most recently Eric has been selected a Finalist in the Tucson Folk Festival Songwriting Contest, and has been tapped for the prestigious Songwriter’s Showcase produced by Tempe Center for the Arts, to be filmed for PBS distribution.
Sometime during the month of June, KJZA 89.5fm, where The Folk Sessions has had a radio home for over 13 years, will become Prescott Public Radio, 89.5 AND 90.1fm, a part of the new Arizona Community Radio Network. Over the next several months local news, music, culture and thought-provoking programs will be locally produced and broadcast. To celebrate we are turning our 4th annual Americana MusicFest into a party! In addition to the three great acts performing, we will have some special guests, radio give-aways and all sorts of fun.
The Folk Sessions may well be one of the most eclectic radio shows in America. Broadcast throughout Central & Northern Arizona and into Nevada for over 13 years on the KJAZZ Radio Network. The Folk Sessions has established a loyal following, producing quality radio programs and live concerts. This Summer the Folk Sessions returns to the Highlands Center for its 9th season of concerts “under the stars.”
