Adult and Community Programs
There’s a science-based nature education program for every kind of adult nature lover at the Highlands Center for Natural History. Whether it’s through nature studies or art classes, a hiking spree, or a book club, our mission is to help children and adults discover the wonders of nature and become wise caretakers of the land.
Natural History Classes
Art in the Outdoors
Art Classes are an excellent place for beginners and experienced artists to learn and practice their skills in nature observation and illustration. Classes are offered throughout the year and range from series to a single program.
Natural History Book Club
Reading is something on many of our “to-do” lists, but some of us need a little extra incentive, like having a group that meets monthly to discuss. This group focuses on books related to natural history, with some southwestern component, written in the last decade or so.
Hiking Spree
This Highlands Center happening is a community-wide event that takes place each fall and can be completed at the participant’s own pace. People from all over the state come to Prescott to hike 8 out of 10 trails within the Prescott National Forest and the City of Prescott between August and November.
Custom Programs
The Highlands Center offers custom programs, which are visits tailored to specific group needs. In the past, programs have been designed for Scout Troops, senior communities, and other tour groups.
