The Highlands Center for Natural History offers a wide range of outdoor learning activities and educational programs for people of all ages. From Naturalist Field walks to learning with our children in the outdoors, our programs have something for all outdoor enthusiasts.

Star Talks with John Mangimeli

Highlands Center Naturalist and night sky enthusiast, John Mangimeli, takes you on a journey through the stars in this special new series about stars, planets, and much more. All ages welcome! Free to the public!

Spring Spectacular

Come celebrate Spring at the Highlands Center!  Spring is an exciting time for plants and animals as the temperatures start to warm and the days get longer.  What a perfect time to explore the Discovery Gardens!  Meet live animals, paint eggs, plant seeds, and listen to stories at our newest Spring family night!

When: March 29, 5 – 7 pm

Where: Highlands Center for Natural History (1375 Walker Rd)

Cost: $5 for Adults; $2 for Children under 13

Halloween Happening

In this annual nature-themed Halloween celebration, families are invited to explore the natural wonder of the Highlands Center at night in a safe and exciting environment.

  • Have your face-painted!
  • Dissect Owl Pellets!
  • Roast marshmallows by the campfire!
  • Go on a scavenger hunt!
  • Meet live animals from the Heritage Park Zoo!
